DAPHNE, Ala. (WPMI) — According to Daphne Police, on Tuesday January 2, 2024, at 6:18 am, the Daphne Police Department received a report that a woman was in the roadway on State Hwy 181 near Rigsby Road attempting to retrieve spilled luggage.
At 6:25 a second call was received reporting a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle in the same vicinity.
Officers and EMS arrived and determined the crash had resulted in the fatality of a 46-year-old female who resided nearby.
Her identity is being withheld at this time.
The vehicle involved was traveling north on Hwy 181.
Neither alcohol nor excessive speed is believed to have played a role in this incident. Additional investigation is ongoing.
