A New Hampshire woman said gifts packed in her luggage were replaced with dog food when returning home from a European trip, ABC affiliate WMUR reported.
Portsmouth, N.H. resident Gina Sheldon told WMUR she had spent 11 days in Italy and stopped in Paris for a few days before returning home.
Sheldon guessed that the supposed switching of items happened in the baggage area at the Charles DeGaulle Airport.
Sheldon booked her flight through Delta Airlines, but it was operated by Air France, according to WMUR.
“I opened the third bag which I had all the gifts in and things I bought for myself as well, and it was replaced with dog food, an old T-shirt [and] a shaving cream bottle,” Sheldon said.
Sheldon also detailed the gifts she purchased, which included a leather jacket for her 16-year-old daughter and leather purses for family members and friends. She estimated that the missing items totaled over $3,000, WMUR reported.
In a statement, Delta Airlines told the ABC affiliate they apologize to Sheldon for her initial experience on the flight, saying they have contacted Air France and Sheldon to help find a resolution to her situation, WMUR noted.
The Hill has reached out to Delta Airlines for comment.
“We apologize for this customer’s experience following Air France flight 334,” Delta said in a statement. “We have affirmatively connected with our partners at Air France and the customer to find a resolution.”
