What is a luggage company to do while global restrictions prevent all of your potential customers from getting on planes? For the embattled company Away, known for a solid lineup of sleek, relatively affordable spinners in Instagram-friendly colors, it meant making a few moves. First, a massive sale with price cuts so deep, people buy carry-ons when there’s nowhere to carry them. Then, fill all that freed-up warehouse space with new products. Gear built less for winning the overhead storage war than upgrading your Airbnb weekend escape or your daily commute.
Specifically, Away is launching wallets, Dopps, and backpacks, all in the same hyper-organized pastel palette you know and may or may not love. None of the items are particularly quarantine-specific or all that wild for Away—they’re not diving into the bidet game. But they are the kind of nicer-than-what-you'd-find-on-Amazon items that you could put under a non-denominational holiday plant with a warm note about vacations to come.
