KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -East Tenn. newlyweds were celebrating their marriage Sunday afternoon when they discovered their honeymoon luggage, bride’s wedding dress and groom’s tux was stolen out of their car in plain sight.
Jordan McCreary said her and her husband Gentry were celebrating at Balter Beerworks Sunday morning and were parked in their overflow lot when they discovered their car was broken into and all of their honeymoon luggage and wedding belongings were stolen.
“The person took a really large rock to the window and it was left in the driver’s floorboard,” said Jordan. She says there was around $5,000 worth of belongings stolen from the car.
Jordan said her and her husband filed a police report with Knoxville Police Department and they have been helpful in trying to find the suspect.
KPD said officers responded to a call around 12:50 p.m. Sunday when they spoke to the couple and discovered their property had been stolen from inside the vehicle. Gentry reported to officers that 2 laptops, a wedding dress, tuxedo, shoes, watch, makeup, jewelry and two bottles of whiskey had been stolen from the back of the vehicle.
Crime lab responded to the scene and took fingerprints from the vehicle.
“At the end of the day our goal was to be married and if that’s all we accomplish then we did it,” said McCreary. “My wedding dress is super sentimental and would be amazing to show our kids one day but if we don’t find it, at the end of the day we still have a happy marriage.”
An investigator with the KPD Property Crimes Unit has been assigned to work on the case.
