According to Mr Reid, his bag contained about $3,000 (Rs 2.4 lakh) worth of items.
A man in the United States who lost his luggage at the airport was shocked to find the alleged thief wearing his clothes when he tracked the suitcase using Apple's AirTag, as per a report in the New York Post.
Jameel Reid was travelling from Los Angeles to Atlanta, Georgia, when he noticed that the baggage carousel didn't have his bags. He noticed that someone must have already taken it after half an hour had passed and it became obvious that his luggage was not arriving. According to him, his bag contained about $3,000 (Rs 2.4 lakh) worth of items.
"I'm going to baggage claim and all that ... I'm trying to look for my luggage. I'm standing there for like 30 minutes or so. I'm not seeing it. Eventually, I pulled my phone out, so I have an Air Tag in my luggage," he told WSB-TV.
The passenger claimed that although the tracking device in his bag indicated that the bag had already left the airport, he immediately called the police when he noticed it abruptly moving back in his direction. He followed the suitcase until it returned to the airport, at which point he confronted a man named Nelson, whom he described as being homeless.
Mr Reid said, "This silver one here, I have a tracking device in it and I tracked it to you. And you have my shirt on...that's insane. My shirt and my jeans. This guy, so he stole my luggage. I had about $3,000 worth of stuff in here." He also captured video of Nelson lying on the airport floor before police finally handcuffed him.
As per the outlet, Nelson was then accused of illegal trespass, unauthorised removal of luggage and theft by taking.

Australian travelers made major changes to their trip to Bali after discovering someone had placed an AirTag into their luggage.
Emily Sinclair had paid a visit to Bali with her partner Jane for a vacation. Plans for the trip changed dramatically after Emily found an AirTag had been slipped into a bag.
"It gave us quite a fright," said Sinclair.
The AirTag was discovered after a "strange noise" was heard from one of the bags.
"We took the battery out straight away and dismantled it and saw that the device was made in Indonesia, so we believe it was put into Jane's bag at the airport on arrival," reports7News.
"We are both very seasoned and careful travelers and have never had anything like this happen before," she continued. "Our bags never left our backs, and the main compartment of the bags were locked. The device was found in a front pocket of Jane's backpack that isn't able to be locked."
The discovery of the tracker spooked the couple. After feeling "really unsafe" about being in a small village called Amed with the concern that someone could be looking for them, they made a big change to their trip.
Despite having eight nights of accommodation left in the village, they took a taxi to the more populated Kuta three hours away.
Ultimately, the event was too much to enjoy the rest of the trip. The couple paid to change flights and flew home earlier.
"We had no idea why or how it got into Jane's bag, but we felt that if somebody had gone to the trouble to put it there, they were intending to use it," Emily added. "So it really frightened us, and we just wanted to get home as soon as possible."
Apple has incorporated a number of anti-stalking features into its AirTag, including emitting a periodic beep if it's separated from its owner for a period of time. This was the sound the couple heard on their trip.
An AirTag seemingly traveling along with someone who isn't the owner can also trigger an alert on an iPhone. The couple admits they didn't own any Apple products, so they wouldn't have seen it.
Despite the protective measures, AirTag has featured in a number of stories where someone attempted to track someone or something else. It has repeatedly been used in stalking attempts, which has led to arrests on the discovery of the tag.
It has also been used to track vehicles, including an owner's car that was taken by thieves in North Carolina, and in New York, to seemingly monitor a patrolling NYPD police car.
Police in Atlanta have arrested a man they believe was stealing luggage from the city airport, after he was confronted by his purported victim while wearing the man's shirt and jeans.
Craig Nelson has been charged with unlawful removal of baggage, theft by taking and criminal trespass following the incident at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
Jameel Reid, his alleged victim, said he tracked Nelson down with his luggage using an Apple Air Tag he had stored in the bag, following a return flight to Atlanta from Los Angeles.
Speaking to local network WSB-TV he said: "This guy, so he stole my luggage. I had about $3,000 worth of stuff in here.

"I'm going to baggage claim and all that...I'm trying to look for my luggage. I'm standing there for like 30 minutes or so. I'm not seeing it.
"Eventually, I pulled my phone out, so I have an Air Tag in my luggage. After I had seen that it was not in the airport, it was actually in Grady."
However Reid noticed the Air Tag was moving back to the airport, and informed airport security while continuing to track its location using his phone.
Eventually, it arrived back at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport where Reid tracked down and confronted the alleged thief.
Addressing the suspect he reportedly said: "This silver one here, I have a tracking device in it and I tracked it to you. And you have my shirt on...that's insane. My shirt and my jeans." Police later intervened and detained Nelson.
However, Reid said he still has concerns about security at the airport, commenting: "You can literally walk into baggage claim, like walk straight in and possibly take somebody's luggage and walk out and nobody would even know."
Speaking to WSB-TV, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport said it was assisting Atlanta Police with their investigation. Newsweek has independently contacted the airport by email, requesting comment and any update they can offer.
Last year Sam Brinton, then deputy assistant secretary of spent fuel and waste disposition in the Department of Energy, was charged with theft after allegedly stealing a woman's bag from an airport. Brinton was fired from the department after the charges were confirmed.
Kenner pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and one count of committing mail fraud, after taking flights on commercial airlines under "false or fictitious identities using fraudulent identification cards," then saying his baggage had been stolen and claiming compensation.

An Australian couple traveling to Bali was stunned when they found an Apple AirTag had been placed in their luggage, and now they have a warning for other Aussies heading to the island province of Indonesia, according to reports.
Sydney, Australia-based 7News reported that Emily Sinclair and her partner Jane traveled to Bali when they found the tracker.

AirTags are an Apple product and allow people to track things like their keys, wallet, purse, luggage, and more.
Neither woman owns an Apple device, and they claimed to have emptied their bags before preparing for the trip.
After being in Bali for about two days, the women said they noticed a "strange noise" coming from one of their bags.

When they investigated what the noise was, they located the device in a pocket on the front of Jane’s backpack and said they took the battery out immediately.
Sinclair told 7News the device was made in Indonesia, therefore they believed it was placed in the bag when they arrived at the airport.
At the time of the discovery, the couple was in a village on the east side of the island called Amed.
The discovery made both women feel unsafe, and they said they were not sure if someone was tracking them or not.

"So even though we had eight nights’ accommodation left in Amed, we took a taxi back to Kuta (three hours away) that day to be in a more populated area and (as) far away from the tracker as we possibly could (be)," she told the news station. "We were supposed to fly home to Australia on the 1st of April, but we paid to change our flights and flew in (Monday) morning as the whole situation kind of put a dampener on the whole holiday and on Bali for us, we couldn’t relax or feel safe."
A spokesperson for Apple previously pointed Fox News Digital to a recent update and stated Apple works with law enforcement to track down errant AirTags.
"Every AirTag has a unique serial number, and paired AirTags are associated with an Apple ID," the Apple spokesperson said. "Apple can provide the paired account details in response to a subpoena or valid request from law enforcement."
When reached for comment on Monday, Apple did not immediately respond.
